In our English Club, Socrates Debate Club, we worked so hard, put countless time into it, got really tired, but we enjoyed the commitment, and above all, we have learnt a lot ! We have learnt how to respect and try to understand the other’s ideas; we have learnt that no one should think he holds the truth and everything is relative and should be put within a particular frame.( Everything is possible to get improved on through honest debating and respectful LISTENING to the other. This is essential to coexisting in PEACE with those who are different from us!) Debating within rules is likely to enhance open-mindedness and to reduce chauvinism, intolerance, hatred and hostility discourse. The proof is, in our club, we have grown so close and developed such a strong bond of love and respect despite all. We are more than a club , we are a proud family!
I, the coordinator, believe this is one of the best and richest experiences in my career and life!
We would like to express gratitude to Mrs. Ilhem Mansour, our inspectress, for recommending the Debate Club to us , to our administration ( Mrs. Hager Chkili, the headmistress and her staff ) for encouraging and supporting us morally and financially and to Tunisia YAV TEAM for their efforts and guidance.
